Margaret Hodge MP is best known for taking on global tax avoiders in her former role as Chair of the Public Accounts Committee and for defeating Nick Griffin in the 2010 General Election in her Barking constituency.

In 2003 she became the first Minister for Children and has also served as a Government Minister in the Departments for Culture, Media and Sport; Work and Pensions; and Trade and Industry. Before becoming an MP she was Leader of Islington Council for 10 years. She has 10 grandchildren and enjoys playing the piano, gardening and cooking.
